Kailey and Matthew’s Fort Worth Stockyards engagement session was the perfect blend of rustic charm, personality, and romance. With its iconic brick streets, rustic backdrops, cute train and lush river area, the Stockyards ended up being a great and versatile location for this fun session. The session beautifully reflected their fun-loving, introverted, and slightly nerdy personalities—complete with laughter, sweet moments, and a touch of their signature goofy energy.
How Their Love Story Began
Kailey and Matthew were first introduced through a mutual friend who had a hunch that they might hit it off. They talked for a bit over messaging before officially meeting for the first time at a Black Rifle Coffee back in early 2023. They hit it off immediately, bonding over easy conversation and an instant connection. “I was able to be my complete open self immediately, and it was a breath of fresh air!” she shared. Matthew still wonders how he got so lucky, jokingly saying, “How or why she looked at me and said, ‘I want that one,’ is beyond me, but I’m glad she did.”
Their first official date took place just a few days later at the incredibly delicious Patriotic Pig (who actually also offers catering for weddings – 10/10 recommend!). Knowing Kailey was about to leave on a family vacation, Matthew didn’t want to wait to see her again. He said, “There was just something about her that I couldn’t get off my mind.” Their instant connection was undeniable, and by the time dinner ended, neither of them wanted to be apart. And the rest, as they say, is history! They’ve been inseparable ever since.
A Relationship Built on Laughter and Connection
Kailey and Matthew describe themselves as nerdy in their own ways—she’s a bookworm, he’s into video games—but they love embracing their mutual nerdiness together. They’re also self-proclaimed introverts who joke about being “hermits.” They’re incredibly goofy but also deeply emotional. Matthew is never shy about expressing how much he adores Kailey, and they both know that happy tears will be flowing on their wedding day.
When I asked what they admired most in each other, Kailey shared, “His patience and sense of calm when I need it the most. He helps ground me if my mind is racing and I can’t calm down. He takes the time to help bring my mind down with such ease and patience that I have never given myself. Just being around him makes me feel safe. He is so patient, supportive and compassionate.”
Matthew answered, “Her patience and understanding, she always listens to me whenever I’ve had a bad day. She’s patient, has infectious joy… and mega crackhead energy, HA! Not calling her out though, I have the same energy 🤣”
These two crack me up so much. Their adoration for each other is so evident – and they balance each other out so beautifully.
Their Proposal Story
When I asked her when she knew that he was the one, she shared this sweet sentiment: “When I could be my true ‘chaotic gremlin’ self around him and not only did he enjoy it, he joined in full force! I had always thought it would be so much easier to just date myself, haha, and then in walked Matt; the other half of my chaotic gremlin soul. His initial shy demeanor is far from the boisterous laughter and endless giggles I get to experience every day.”
On a casual game night with friends, Matthew decided it was time to ask Kailey the big question. While she stepped away to grab something from the kitchen, he got down on one knee, waiting for her return. When she turned the corner and saw him, everything stopped. It was a simple, sweet, and deeply personal moment—just as Kailey had always wanted.
Stockyards Engagement
Since they both work in different aspects of transportation (and Matthew specifically working on the railroad tracks), it was extra special to incorporate the train and train tracks into their Stockyards engagement session. They embraced the rustic scenery, walking hand in hand along the cobblestone streets and sharing sweet moments by the river at sunset. The session reflected everything that makes them unique—romantic yet playful, and intimate while filled with tons of laughter.
I’m excited to share their session below!

Kailey and Matthew are set to tie the knot in March at The Chapel at Riverwalk in Flower Mound. More than anything, they’re looking forward to celebrating their love with the people who matter most to them.
Kailey can’t wait to soak in every moment of the day and celebrate her love for Matthew, while Matthew is counting down the days until he officially gets to call her his wife. With a love as strong and lighthearted as theirs, it’s bound to be an unforgettable day.
